124th Nazrul Jayanti Celebration at Jhankar Cultural Organization

On 11th Jaistha , 1430 Bangla, 26th May, 2023  Friday, on the occasion of the auspicious 124th birth anniversary of poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, Barak Valley's popular cultural organization Jhankar Cultural Organization organized a program titled Nazrul Remembrance in words and songs at their temporary office at Ashram Road Silchar.In the morning, the artists of Jhankar Cultural organisation went to the portrait of Nazrul Islam at Park Road and offered their heartfelt respect. Among the artists present were organization president Joydeep Choudhury, Secretary Deboshree Choudhury, treasurer Nirmal Rabidas, publicity secretary Vishal Acharya and others. Then the Nazrul Geeti program started at 6:30 pm. While remembering Nazrul in words and songs. Shatabdi Das, the artist of the organization, performed a music . His performance was quite admirable and engaging. Artist Satabdi sang the songs like Pardeshi Megh and Phiriya Jodi se.Nirmal Ravidas, another singer and the treasurer of Jhankar Cultural organisation,also present a music. Artist Nirmal performed Ahir Bhairab and Khambaj Raag based Nazrul Geeti Arun Kanti Ke Go and Uchaton Man Ghare .His sonngs were heart touching to the audience. Then singer Deboshree Choudhury and the secretary of Jhankar Cultural organisation, performed many songs like Shyama Sangeet composed by Nazrul," Mahavidya Adya Shakti" and "Mahakaler kole ese"  masterfully. Then the organization's adviser and guardian artist Leena Choudhury also performed two songs "Varna Chora Thakur" and  "khelicho  e Vishwa Loye". Her performance was quite commendable. Then Jhankar's publicity secretary Vishal Acharya paid tribute to poet Nazrul Islam with an unique performance from the bottom of his heart by presenting the songs like "Kararoii Louho Kapat"and "Shikal Pora Chal". 

Jhankar's president and vocalist Joydeep Chowdhury performed  Nazrul Geeti and Nazrul Katha at the end of the program. He spoke about the life and philosophy of Kazi Nazrul Islam. He described every stage of Nazrul Islam's music in the space of words. Moreover, Nazrul's eight-percent ove and eight-percent  rebellion are discussed by the artist. The artist discusses the place of Mother Kali and Lord Krishna in Dukhu Mia's life. Jaideep tried  to sung Nazrul's poetic songs, lyrical plays, Swadesh Prem, Shyama and Uma Sangeet , Leto songs, comedy songs, Islamic songs, Jhumur, Baul, Kirtan, Raga Pradhan, Hori, Nazrul's various rhythms and ragas created by  Nazrul.He tried to  Sing some parts of all the paryay . The artist performed Nazrul songs based on Raga Dolan Champa, Raga Malkosh, Raga Bhimpalashi, Yogiya, Khambaj, Bhairavi, Darbari Kanara, Kafi, etc. The artist presented some Nazrul songs like Braja Gopi, Dolan Chapa Bone Dole, Tor Ranga Paye Ne Ma Shyama, Hridi Padme Charan Rakho, Naveen Asha Jaglo, Shaon Raate Jodi  Neem Phuler Mou, Diner Nobiji Shunae Eaki. His main aim was to shed light on all the paryays of Nazrul through words and songs little by little. The programme performed through the artist's words and songs touches the hearts of the audience. The program was organised and presented through Facebook and some words and songs are presented live. Vikrant Dhar, a young and renowned  tabla player and a tabla student who received a CCRT scholarship, accompanied Tabla on the occasion. Vikrant's great skill and talent tabla playing impressed the audience. He plays the tabla with songs based on Trital, Addha, Kaharba, Dadra, Jhaptal, Teora, four-dimensional ektal. Instrumental accompaniment is the life force of the song. From all angles, the artists of Barak's popular cultural organization jhankar Sanskritik Sanstha presented a wonderful Nazrul Jayanti event to the audience. At the last part of the program, the artists of Jhankar Cultural Organization ended the program by bowing at the feet of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
