The relentless crackdown on the illegal drug trade continues as 20,000 Yaba tablets were seized and three individuals, including a Mizo woman, were arrested.

Despite ongoing efforts, the illegal drug trade remains unabated, with regular seizures and arrests being made across the region.

In a significant anti-drug operation, the Dholai police achieved a major success. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Officer-in-Charge Inspector Manoj Barua conducted a raid on Thursday evening at Saptagram on the 306 Silchar-Aizawl National Highway.

During the raid, the police intercepted a group attempting to transfer drugs from a scooter to a Bolero vehicle. Sensing the police presence, the Bolero fled, but the police managed to arrest three Mizo citizens with the scooter.

A thorough search of the scooter revealed approximately 20,000 Yaba tablets.

The arrested individuals were identified as Beni (36), a resident of Chaitual in Mizoram, Lalrin Heta (42), and Isaka Lal Homadika from Vairengte on the Assam-Mizoram border.

According to Lalrin Heta, Beni, the Mizo woman, was hired to guide him from Vairengte with the scooter. The police nabbed them as they were transferring the bag containing the tablets to the Bolero.

During the raid, the Bolero vehicle managed to escape. The police have registered a case against the arrested individuals and launched an investigation. The seized Yaba tablets are estimated to have a market value of over INR 1.5 million.
