A tense situation unfolded in Kaliganj last night when a dramatic incident of robbery and vandalism took place. Around 7 PM, at the Kshudrakandi Tri-junction, a group of armed miscreants blocked a vehicle, vandalized it, and stole ₹4 lakh in cash. The attack resulted in injuries to two individuals, including the driver and manager of the vehicle.

According to the complaint, the vehicle was being driven by Debanjan Baish, manager of businessman Imran Hossain from Kshudrakandi. The assailants, armed with weapons, forcefully stopped the vehicle, damaged it, and then assaulted Baish and the driver.

They proceeded to loot ₹4 lakh in cash from the vehicle. Imran Hossain informed the media that he had been receiving threats from local miscreants. To safeguard the business funds, he had instructed his manager to bring the money home, but the miscreants targeted the vehicle, mistakenly believing it to be connected to Hossain.

In response to the incident, Baish filed a complaint with the Kaliganj Police Outpost, naming 12 individuals as suspects. The Officer-in-Charge of Sadar Police Station, B.K. Chetri, arrived from Karimganj to oversee the situation.

The police have launched an investigation into the case. Both Imran Hossain and Debanjan Baish have called on the District Superintendent of Police to ensure that the perpetrators are apprehended and punished.
