The Border Security Forces (BSF) of Mizoram-Cachar Frontier, stationed at Masimpur in the Cachar district of Assam, observed their 59th raising day with a spectacular display of military prowess and cultural festivities on Friday.
Recognized as the "First Line of Defense in India," the Mizoram-Cachar Frontier celebrated this significant occasion with great pomp and show.
The festivities kicked off at the Masimpur headquarters with a dazzling march past, featuring bands, a display of arms and artillery.
Notably, the women's wing showcased their acumen in handling sophisticated weaponry.
The event included a ceremonial cake cutting, a riveting dog show that highlighted the force's capabilities in detecting narcotics and explosives, and a captivating cultural show.
Dignitaries and guests in attendance were mesmerized by the grandeur of the celebration.
BSF's Mizoram-Cachar Frontier reported significant achievements over the past year.
The force successfully seized 2 arms, 263 ammunitions, 383 cattle, 8,15,670 banned Yaba tablets, 3.15 kgs of Heroin, and 649 kgs of Ganja, amounting to a total value of 217 crores in this sector alone.
Akhileshwar Singh, Inspector General (IG) of BSF for Mizoram-Cachar Frontier, addressed the media on this auspicious day.
He shared insights into the force's evolution, stating, "In 1965, the formation of this force to guard the borders began with 25 battalions.
Today, it has almost touched 200 battalions, making it the largest border guarding force in the world.
We secure almost 6000 kilometers of international border, with 4000 along Bangladesh and 2000 along Pakistan.
Our responsibilities extend beyond guarding borders; we also face challenges in combating infiltration, drug trafficking, and cattle smuggling."
