Satellite images provided by the US company Maxar Technologies show the convoy stretching some 65 kilometers (40 miles) along a road north of the Ukrainian capital.

Ukraine's news agency UNIAN also reported the same length. It is currently not possible

to independently verify the images. The convoy, which appears longer than previously

thought, is reportedly inching slowly toward the outskirts of Kyiv. As of Monday morning it was around 25 kilometers (17 miles) from the city center, according to the satellite images.

Up until now, Ukrainian forces have managed to the Russian invasion, but it is unclear just how long they will be able to fend off the Russian push for the capital.

UN human rights chief Michelle Bachelet has confirmed the deaths of 102 civilians, including seven children, since the Russian invasion of neighboring Ukraine began on Thursday. Hundreds more have been injured, and the figures provided are likely to be undercounted.

According to Ukrainian officials, a Russian

bombardment of residential areas in Kharkiv, the country's second largest city, killed dozens of civilians. It was not possible to independently verify casualty figures.

Residents of Kyiv who have remained in the city have hunkered down in the subway stations.
