Officers from the All Assam Bengali Parishad Cachar District Committee gathered at the Silchar Press Club on Saturday to raise their voices against the forceful removal of Bengali language banners during Durga Puja and the mistreatment of Bengali community members by the radical nationalist organization, Lachit Sena.

During a press conference, committee representatives expressed their strong condemnation for the actions of Lachit Sena and AASU, who forcefully removed Bengali language banners from puja pandals during the recent Durga Puja celebrations. The officers demanded immediate government intervention to ban the ultra-nationalist group, Lachit Sena, and sought exemplary punishment for the perpetrators involved in the incident.

The committee officials also announced plans for an organizational meeting in Guwahati in the coming days. Following the meeting, legal action will be pursued against Lachit Sena and Asun student organization, demonstrating the committee's commitment to seeking justice for the Bengali community.

Present at the press conference were prominent members including Hemang Das, the Working President of the Central Committee of Bengali Development Council, along with Ratnangkar Bhattacharya, Sushmita Purkayastha, Tingku Vaidya Gautam Roy, Amio Bhushan Chowdhury, Bappa Das, Babul Roy, and Surnimal Roy. The committee's firm stance against the mistreatment of the Bengali community highlights the need for communal harmony and unity in the region.
