Used masks, PPE kits, Gloves have created havoc ensuing Covid-19. India has always had a huge problem regarding garbage disposal, but now, due to Covid-19, a steep rise is seen in biomedical waste.
Every month we are using around129 a billion disposable face masks all over the world, meaning, 3 million face masks every minute. These masks, however, are made of plastic and people don't know what to do with them as disposing of them can be tacky because they can infect the garbage collectors, or can contaminate air and water, depending on the method of disposal.
Now, thankfully, a solution to this humungous problem has been discovered by Dr. Binish Desai, 27years old, also known as the Recycle Man of India. He is the first to patent garbage and believes that nothing in this world is useless. He owns a lab where these weird experiments on garbage take place which leads to turning them into useful materials. He has made 193 different innovations so far.
Similarly, he has made bricks out of our used PPE Kits which are 4times harder and cheaper than our normal bricks. For doing so, like any other process of garbage disposal, people collect their used masks with the strings being cut in a separate bin and after collecting 50-100 such masks, the bin is isolated to avoid any kind of active infection.
Then these are packed and sent to Dr. Binish, and that's all. However, some guidelines are followed in this process which includes disinfecting them 3 times as proposed by the Indian Government.
Any one of us can become a part of this huge project by using our used masks for a good reason and save our environment from being destroyed any further.
