Amit Malviya, the National Convenor of the BJP IT Cell, reviewed various aspects of the 2024-25 fiscal budget, including development plans for the Barak and Brahmaputra valleys. During his visit to Silchar on Monday, the district BJP organized a press conference at the party office, attended by the district president and other officials.

Speaking to the media, Malviya highlighted that Assam, including the northeastern region, had not received the rights it deserved. He asserted that the Narendra Modi government's policies have addressed these issues, and people will see a focused approach in every part of Assam.

Malviya revealed that many plans for the Barak Valley are in the planning stage. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has frequently visited the area to emphasize the need for basic infrastructure. The government is committed to completing the "East-West Corridor" by 2026 and is working tirelessly to build robust rail and air infrastructure. The central government is paying special attention to resolving the communication issues hindering the Barak Valley's progress, and Malviya expressed hope that these problems will be permanently resolved, leading to rapid development in the region.

Furthermore, the Barak Valley is expected to become a key gateway to Central and Southeast Asia, and both the Assam and central governments are committed to achieving this goal.

Discussing the budget, Malviya mentioned that not everything can be announced at once, but the central government is fully prepared to provide the necessary assistance for Assam's flood situation. The government will offer financial and resource support as needed. The Home Minister and Assam's Chief Minister are continuously discussing all issues concerning the Barak Valley and Assam, and a blueprint for long-term flood control is in progress.

The press conference was attended by former Silchar MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy, MLAs Dipayan Chakraborty, Bimlendu Roy, and Abhrajit Bhattacharya, among others.
