Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupen Bora made his long-awaited appearance at an election rally in Silchar today.

After postponing his visits to Barak Valley three times since the nomination filing by INC candidates of Karimganj and Silchar Lok Sabha seats, Bora commenced a two-day tour of the region.

Scheduled to speak at a rally in Karatigram in Udharbond under the Silchar Lok Sabha constituency at 3:30 PM, Bora arrived at the venue three hours behind schedule.

Addressing a gathering of around 200 Congress supporters, he expressed his concerns about the tactics employed by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Bora accused the Assam CM of attempting to divert voters' attention from pressing state issues.

He rebutted Sarma's insinuations about him joining the BJP, asserting that such a move would undermine democracy and disillusion young politicians.

Responding to media queries about Gaurav Gogoi's absence from the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Bora invoked the late Tarun Gogoi's inclusive ethos.

He recounted his father's dying wish to visit places of worship representing different religions before his last rites.

Bora emphasized that Gaurav Gogoi, being his son, shares the same respect and reverence for all faiths.

Bora's address underscored the political fervor surrounding the upcoming elections in Assam, with both sides vigorously campaigning to sway voters in their favor.
