Assam Cabinet approves merger of SEBA and AHSEC, forms Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB)
In a significant move aimed at enhancing the standards and quality of school education, the Assam Cabinet made the decision to amalgamate the Board of Secondary Education (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC), establishing the Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).
Additionally, the cabinet gave the green light to the Assam Secondary Education (Government Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023, and the Assam Secondary Education (Provincialised Schools) Service (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2023. These amendments are designed to streamline the recruitment process for Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers, including Subject Teachers in vocational subjects.
The revised rules aim to ensure an optimal pupil-teacher ratio, effectively utilize manpower to support academic activities, and prevent adverse effects on academic functions at the Secondary level in Provincialized/Government Schools. This strategic decision reflects the commitment of the Assam government to enhance the education system for the benefit of students across the state.
