Assam Govt to distribute scooty to HS passed students on this day of November
These initiatives reflect the government's commitment to encouraging and supporting the educational achievements of students in Assam, irrespective of gender, and providing them with the necessary resources to excel in their studies.
The Assam government has announced that on November 30, 2023, more than 35,000 students across the state will be provided with new two-wheelers as part of the Dr. Banikanta Kakati Award scheme. This initiative aims to support students in their academic pursuits.
Among the recipients, a significant number includes 30,209 girls who have secured 60 per cent or higher grades in their Class XII exams conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC). In a departure from previous practices, the government has extended this benefit to high-achieving boys as well. Boys who have attained 75 per cent or above in the same examinations will also be eligible to receive government-funded scooters. This decision has made 5,566 boys eligible for the scheme.
Additionally, during the Assam cabinet meeting held on Wednesday, it was decided that outstanding students under the Anundoram Borooah Award scheme will receive a monetary award of £15,000 each. The distribution of these awards is scheduled for November 29, 2023. A total of 27,183 students, who have achieved 75 per cent or above in the High School Leaving Examination (HSLC) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), will benefit from this programme.
