Assam Police Arrest 800 Accused Against Child Marriage; 34 in Cachar
The recent tweet of CM Sarma states that Assam Police has cracked down 800 accused people against massive child marriage operation drive.
In a sweeping campaign aimed at combatting child marriage, Assam Police have apprehended more than 800 individuals as part of a special operation that commenced in the early hours of the morning. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma conveyed this via a tweet. In Cachar, 34 individuals have been arrested in child marriage cases, with 22 cases registered. The breakdown of arrests by police station is as follows:
1. Dwarbond PS: 01 arrest
2. Katigorah PS: 04 arrests
3. Dholai PS: 04 arrests
4. Lakhipur PS: 03 arrests
5. Kachudharam PS: 03 arrests
6. Joypur PS: 02 arrests
7. Kalain PS: 08 arrests
8. Sonai PS: 05 arrests
9. Silchar PS: 03 arrests
In total, there have been 34 arrests in these cases. The number of arrests is likely to rise.
