Assam police chief issues warning to Manipur refugees in Cachar
"This is Assam, not Manipur," asserted IGP Prashanta Kumar Bhuyan, delivering a stern warning to Manipur refugees in Cachar to refrain from illegal activities.
He emphasized, "Assam police have previously quelled numerous militant organizations, including ULFA.
If anyone in Assam takes up arms, the police will not hesitate to respond with force."
On Monday, IGP Bhuyan visited the Manipur-adjacent border area in Lakshmipur and interacted with the local residents. He also met with Assam Rifles officials stationed in Manipur.
The IGP revealed that a list of Manipur residents taking refuge in Cachar is being prepared, and house-to-house surveys have commenced.
