Assam University drops CUET-UG requirement for 80% of UG admissions
In a recent social media announcement, the Assam University Students' Union President revealed that the CUET-UG exams will no longer be mandatory for admission to Assam University's undergraduate courses.
Under the new policy, 80% of seats at Assam University and its affiliated colleges will be filled without CUET-UG scorecards, while the remaining 20% will be reserved for students with valid CUET-UG scores. This change aims to simplify the admission process for students across the region.
This policy shift comes in response to challenges faced by students in the Barak Valley who recently took the CUET-UG exam. Many students encountered significant difficulties, such as having to travel to distant exam centers, which created a demand for alternative admission routes.
By making CUET-UG optional for the majority of its undergraduate admissions, Assam University is addressing these concerns and making higher education more accessible for local students.
This move is expected to significantly ease the admission process and provide more opportunities for students wishing to pursue their education at Assam University and its affiliated institutions.
