Assam University Organises Vigilance Awareness Week 2022
Vigilance Awareness Week is observed from 31st October, the birthday of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, the Bismarck of India. In 1999, the Central Vigilance Commission India, declares that the week starting from 31st October to 4th November must be observed as VWA.
On the directives of Central Vigilance Commission Assam University organised Vigilance Awareness Week, 2022, from 31st October to 6th November. The program concluded with a national seminar which was organised jointly by the Registrar Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath in collaboration with the Chief Vigilance Officer Prof. G. P Pandey, of Assam University. The Chief guest, former VC of Assam University, Prof. Subhas Chandra Saha inaugurated the event at 2 pm in the presence of the present Vice chancellor of Assam university, Prof Rajive Mohan Pant.
It was a week long celebration started with banner competition, drama competition, extempore speech and singing performance along with anti corruption campaigns at different parts of Assam University Silchar. Dr. Paromita Das as a coordinator of the program conducted all the events with the support and cooperation of CVO and Register of Assam University Silchar.
On 9th November, there was a national level seminar organised as a part of the week long Vigilance awareness program on the theme of corruption free India for a developed nation.
In that Seminar Professor Subhash Saha, former VC of Assam University was present as a chief guest. Honourable Vice chancellor of Assam University Silchar Professor Rajiv Mohan Pant has presided over the program. Register Dr. Prodash Kiran Nath has delivered the welcome address and CBO of Assam University Silchar has discussed the importance and main objective behind the observation of vigilance awareness week at University level.
There were many speakers on the seminar from teaching and non teaching fraternity of Assam University Silchar.
The event started with an inaugural song by the students of the performing arts department. Then the Vice chancellor of Assam University Rajive Mohan Pant felicitated the former Vice chancellor and the former VC felicitated Prof. Rajive Mohan Pant as well. After that Dr. Pradosh Kiran Nath and CVO Prof. GP Pandey delivered their speech.

The event then proceeded towards the result declaration of the week long observation of several competitions which were held amongst the students to motivate and sensitize them towards a corruption free nation like Extempore speech competition, banner making competition and a drama performed by the students, which was held on 4th Nov, 2022 on the theme ‘Corruption Free India for a developed nation’.
The 1st position in the banner competition was secured by Group D, with Arun, Azad, Saddam, Somdipto and Rohit as members.
The 2nd position was secured by group A, with Monisha, Siddhart, Hrijoy, Reemi and Pooja as members.
The 3rd position was secured by Group C with Sultana, Gaurav, Saurabh, Samudra Sihar, Anjali and Supriya as the members.
The 1st position in the extempore Speech competition was secured by Supriya Deb, the 2nd position by Auditya Nath, the 3rd position with Shreyasee Chowdhury and the 4th position was secured by Srijani Purkayastha.
Dr. Joyasri Dey delivered the vote of thanks and the programme ended by singing the National anthem.
