Assam University's 19th Convocation ceremony to be held virtually on 18th December, 2021.

Convocation is a ceremony held at a university or college when students receive their degrees etc. on sucessful completion of a course. After the completion of a course the students awaits for this moment to come as on this special day they get to experience and enjoy a lot of things and to grab some extraordinary memories. Lets see what are the things that make this day so special in a student's life.

The ceremony begins with the entry of the procession, then in addition to student's degrees, the University often confers honorary degrees. These are presented at the beginning of the ceremony. Then comes the moment to capture, the guests may take photographs or film during the ceremony, but only from their seats.When the presentation of awards begins, the marshals will signal to one row of graduands at a time to file out from their seats. When a student's name is called, walk across the stage and shake hands with the Chancellor or designated representative who will say ‘I admit you’. Atlast comes the moment when the students doff their caps when approaching the Chancellor or their designated representative. 

But due to the global corona pandemic in last 2 years all these have been affected very badly. Many colleges planned to hold in-person, socially distanced graduation ceremonies.However, a number of universities continued to host convocation virtually and many had to face postponement.

Similarly this year, the 19th convocation programme of Assam University has been decided to be held virtually and however if the number of the students are not sufficient then the convocation may be deferred for next year.
