Assam University's Department of Pharmaceutical Science hosted its annual fest, GENERIX, on 8th and 9th May after a four-year gap due to COVID-19 and other reasons. This year's fest was organized by the President of GENERIX, Arijeet Sen. The department collaborated with Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) to set up a medical camp, which saw prominent doctors from SMCH conducting free health checkups for over 250 patients, including students, staff, and villagers. They also distributed medicines free of cost.
On 8th May, the department organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with SMCH to mark World Thalassemia Day. The camp saw students from different departments of the university donating 22 units of blood. The second day was a cultural event showcasing the talents of the students, with a small awareness program about World Asthma Day.
The department expresses its gratitude to the Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor for allowing them to host this event and contribute to society. They are also thankful to the Respected Principal of SMCH for showing a great gesture towards society by sending teams of doctors for the medical and blood donation camps. Overall, the event was a success and brought joy to many who participated.
