Assam woman found dead: Allegations of domestic abuse and child marriage emerge

In a distressing incident in Assam’s Dhemaji district, a married woman, Torali Koch Gogoi, was found dead at her residence in Khubalia village.

Torali was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan, but suspicions have arisen that her death might be a premeditated murder orchestrated by her husband, Ramesh Gogoi.

Torali’s mother has accused Ramesh and his family of severe mental and physical abuse, alleging they attempted to disguise the murder as a suicide.

She revealed that Torali had endured prolonged abuse from her husband's family and that Ramesh had eloped with Torali when she was only 14, marrying her thereafter.

Despite filing a complaint about the child marriage at the local police station, Torali’s mother claims no action was taken, leaving the family to seek justice amidst these serious allegations.

The community is now calling for a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind Torali’s tragic death and ensure accountability for any wrongdoing.
