Barak Democratic Front condemns vigilance cell's investigation on Karimganj MLA Kamalakhya Dey, calls for public support

In a strong condemnation, the Barak Democratic Front (BDF) urged the people of Karimganj to respond fittingly to the unjust investigation initiated by the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell against MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha, accusing it of serving Barak's interests.

A BDF delegation, visiting the home of Karimganj MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha to convey festive wishes for Bijaya Dashami and Diwali, expressed their displeasure regarding the alleged harassment of the MLA by the Chief Minister's vigilance cell.

Addressing the issue, Chief Convener of BDF Media Cell, Jaydeep Bhattacharya, asserted that Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha had legally purchased shares in a tea garden, and the repeated investigation by the vigilance cell appeared purposeful and outrageous.

Bhattacharya questioned if this was an attempt to suppress the MLA's democratic voice, emphasizing Kamalakhya's active role in addressing discrimination against Barak Valley in the Assembly.

BDF raised concerns about the chief minister's vigilance cell focusing on a single MLA when many state legislators reportedly own properties worth crores.

They questioned the selective investigation and urged probing other critical issues like the pass percentage of Barak's candidates in recruitment tests, illegal delimitation impacting Barak's representation, and the delay in renaming Bhasha Shahid station.

Jaydeep Bhattacharya conveyed that the people of Karimganj rejected the action against their MLA and pledged to respond adequately in the upcoming elections.

Another BDF convener, Hrishikesh Dey, highlighted the challenges faced by Barak's youth due to unemployment, leading some to engage in immoral activities.

He emphasized the need for unity and urged the youth to rise above personal interests for collective development.

The BDF gathering included members Haradhan Dutta, Biswajit Paul, and others united in their opposition to the alleged targeting of MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha by the Chief Minister's Vigilance Cell.
