Barak river water floods Silchar-Sonai road at Sonabarighat
On Thursday morning, Barak River's water started overflowing onto the Silchar-Sonai Road at Sonabarighat, causing significant flooding.
By 7:30 AM, the water had begun crossing the road, inundating nearby families and steadily rising as the hours passed.
Meanwhile, water is flowing over a small dyke along the river in South Krishnapur.
The newly constructed sluice gate on the E&D dyke remains closed, causing several homes inside the dyke to be submerged.
Several families in Sonabarighat GP have been affected by the flood and have taken shelter in various camps.
The residents of the GP are living in constant fear as the floodwaters continue to rise.
