Vikas Yadav

Vikas Yadav, born and brought up in Silchar,
shattered all such erroneous assumptions as a person with average marks can't land a reputable government job or there's a limit to what a small-town person can do in life.

Vikas is the first youngster from Barak Valley to crack Engineering Services Examination (ESE),
one of the toughest exams held in the country.

Vikas earned his undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from Assam Engineering College (AEC), Guwahati with fairly average marks in 2017.

He decided to Join Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), as a Civil Engineer fresher and reasoned that ESE was his best option at that time.

Yadav went to Delhi, received coaching from the well known Made Easy Coaching Centre.

In his first attempt, he qualified for the Personal Interview round after clearing prelims and mains but couldn't pass the Personal interview round.

It only solidified his goals and he decided to take a jab again at ESE.

And in his second attempt, he cleared all three stages at once prelims, mains and Personal Interview (PI).

Vikas's unrelenting dedication and commitment towards his goal, rewarded him well as he secured an impressive All India rank 39 in Engineering Services Examination 2020.

Words of wisdom, that Vikas shares from his experience, “Average marks don't matter,
just stay focused and utilise your time well.
Govt jobs or business, there's no shortcut to success and no substitute to hard work.

Don't discourage yourself!!
Maintaining an overall positive attitude to life plays a crucial in achieving excellence.
Give your best and the rest will follow”.

A few tips and strategies, Vikas says that helped him stay focused and steadfast on his path are:-

Or whether it distracts you from doing something that is required.
So, first and foremost use cell phones very cautiously.
