Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee met PM Modi, raises concerns on BSF's territorial jurisdiction and Tripura violence.
Mamata Banerjee met PM Modi after Bengal passes resolution against centre's BSF order and raises issues on Tripura's political violence.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and raised the issue of the BSF’s territorial jurisdiction in the state, demanding that it be withdrawn.
She also told Modi that the federal structure of the country should not be disturbed in any way. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Banerjee said that she invited the prime minister to inaugurate the Global Business Summit which would be held in West Bengal next year.
She also raised concerns over “widespread violence” in Tripura, blaming the BJP and Tripura administration for leading attacks on its leaders and some journalists. The TMC is contesting local polls in Tripura this time.
The TMC and Congress leaders have been targeting each other, with the TMC blaming the Congress for not being active enough on the ground to take on the BJP, while the Congress leaders have criticised the TMC for poaching its senior leaders such as Sushmita Dev and Luizinho Faleiro, and helping the BJP indirectly.
On Tuesday, the TMC inducted former Congress leaders Ashok Tanwar, Kirti Azad, and former JD(U) MP Pavan Varma as part of its plan to expand the party nationally.
