Silchar, Assam, India: In a much-needed respite from the ongoing flood crisis, authorities have managed to temporarily stop the water leakage from the sluice gate in Bethukandi, preventing further flooding in Mahisa beel.
Early this morning, a team of engineers and workers constructed a temporary dyke using iron frames and filled it with giant geobags to block the water flow.
This has effectively prevented water from entering Mahisa beel, bringing some relief to the affected residents.
"We have managed to temporarily stop the water leakage from the sluice gate," confirmed a departmental source.
"However, we are closely monitoring the situation and will take further measures if necessary."
