Brutal Attack and Robbery: Lorry Loaded with Goods Looted in Kalainchara; Driver Hospitalized

A horrific incident unfolded on the night of October 6 when a lorry loaded with goods was looted, and an attempt was made to kill the driver in Kalainchara, Holikandi. The lorry owner, Warich Ali Chowdhury, has filed a case against seven individuals, including Ruhul Ahmed Barabhooiya alias Babu, at the Gumra Investigation Center. According to the statement of the case, the attack occurred at 8:30 pm when the driver, Charimul Haque, was transporting local betel nuts from Krishnapur to Guwahati.

The perpetrators, including Babu and six accomplices, intercepted the lorry at National Highway No. 6 near Digarkhal Kalainchhara. Armed with weapons, they forcibly stopped the vehicle and attacked the driver. Charimul Haque was brutally assaulted with a rod and a car lever, with attempts made on his life. The assailants then dragged him out of the lorry, leaving him severely injured.

In addition to the vicious attack, the criminals looted fifty thousand taka in cash and twelve and a half tons of local betel nuts loaded in the lorry. After the assault, the driver was rescued and rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital for immediate medical attention. As of the latest update at 10:30 pm on Monday, Charimul Haque is undergoing treatment, while the police are actively investigating the case to bring the perpetrators to justice. Warich Ali Chowdhury, the lorry owner, expressed his distress over the incident and mentioned the delay in filing the case due to his immediate focus on the injured driver's well-being.
