Cachar residents demand solutions for power issues
Today, a delegation from the Cachar District Coordination Committee of the All Assam Electricity Consumers' Association met with the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) CEO at the Meherpur office.
They presented a memorandum demanding a permanent solution to persistent low voltage issues, an end to load shedding, and replacing outdated electrical infrastructure, including wires and transformers.
The delegation included key representatives such as Sadhan Purkayastha, Professor Ajay Roy, and Manas Das.
During the meeting, the CEO assured that twenty-five new transformers had arrived and a plan was in place to address the low voltage problem.
However, delegation members expressed scepticism, citing recent power outages along the National Highway and ongoing issues in areas like Panchayat Road, Das Colony, and Vivekananda Road.
They highlighted that despite promises, there has been no significant improvement, with some areas experiencing severe power disruptions.
