The Cachar District Youth Congress made a resounding call to action on Wednesday, submitting a memorandum to Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta addressing concerns over escalating anti-social activities, notably the Burmese Suprari syndicate.

Youth Congress President Ranjit Debnath, addressing the media, expressed growing dismay over the syndicate's expanding influence during the BJP government, while the role of the Himanta Biswa Sharma administration remained surprisingly silent. Debnath highlighted the lack of prescribed measures by the government to counteract this surge. He cited instances of Burmese betel leaf illicitly passing through Lailapur in Cachar district, traversing multiple police stations to reach Barakhla in Balachhra Digarkhal, and eventually being intercepted by the police. The president questioned the efficacy of the administration's security measures, emphasizing the alarming infiltration of banned Burmese betel nut into Lailapur.

Debnath further brought attention to an individual named Manjil allegedly orchestrating a coal mafia in Cachar for an extended period. Expressing dissatisfaction, he complained that despite the police administration's awareness, Manjil had not been apprehended.

Adding to the grievances, Debnath pointed out unfulfilled promises by the government regarding the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for local betel nut traders. He alleged that those involved in the syndicate were extorting substantial amounts from local betel nut traders, contrary to the government's commitment.

The Youth Congress demanded punitive action against both the coal mafia figure Manjil and those orchestrating the syndicate. Ranjit Debnath warned of initiating a movement against the syndicate if their demands were not promptly addressed. The memorandum serves as a call to curb illicit activities and uphold the rule of law in Cachar.
