Chief Minister confirms MP Rajdeep Roy's absence due to this reason
In the midst of widespread speculations and talk regarding the absence of Member of Parliament, Dr. Rajdeep Roy, during the Chief Minister of Assam's historic visit to Silchar, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has addressed these conjectures definitively.
He confirmed that he maintains continuous communication with the MP.
The Chief Minister's visit to Barak Valley marked a significant moment, as it was his first journey to the region following the implementation of the delimitation process by the President of India.
This development resulted in the Election Commission of India proposing to reserve the Silchar MP seat for candidates from the Scheduled Caste (SC) community, effectively preventing Dr. Rajdeep Roy from running in future Lok Sabha elections from the Silchar constituency.
The absence of the MP had given rise to speculations, implying it might be a deliberate response to the Chief Minister's involvement in the delimitation process and the subsequent reservation of the Silchar Lok Sabha constituency.
Today, as the Chief Minister of Assam participated in various Silchar events, Dr. Rajdeep Roy's absence continued to fuel ongoing rumors.
When questioned about this conspicuous absence, Chief Minister Sarma promptly addressed the matter to dispel uncertainties.
"I maintain constant communication with MP Dr. Rajdeep Roy and reached out to wish him on his birthday last night.
Regrettably, his wife is currently grappling with a serious illness and is receiving medical treatment. I am well-informed about the situation and intend to contact Dr. Rajdeep Roy again tonight to inquire about his wife's condition," stated Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma firmly.
Demonstrating deep respect for Dr. Rajdeep Roy's family's privacy and dignity, the Chief Minister refrained from disclosing specific details about the illness.
The press, in turn, respected this discretion and did not press for further information.
Dr. Sarma's response unequivocally establishes that there is no political discord between the Chief Minister and the MP, dispelling the rumors that had been circulating regarding the MP's absence during this significant visit.
