CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announces new initiatives for Assam’s cultural protection

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to preserving the state’s unique identity through the principles of “Jati, Mati, Bheti.” In a recent statement, Sarma emphasized that the protection of Assam’s culture, resources, and identity is fundamental to his administration's policies.

Over the past three years, significant steps have been taken to ensure the security of the state's cultural and environmental heritage, with plans to continue these efforts until full protection is achieved.

Key initiatives include the implementation of Clause 6 of the Assam Accord, which aims to provide constitutional safeguards for the indigenous Assamese people. Additionally, the government will mandate Aadhar for NRC applicants and introduce new legislation to protect tribal communities and address issues such as ‘Love Jihad.’ These measures are designed to enhance the security and cultural integrity of Assam’s diverse population.
