Congress held press conference highlights election results in Silchar, Cachar District

On Thursday, a press conference was organized by Congress officials at the Silchar District Congress office. During the conference, District Congress President Abhijit Paul addressed the media, stating that Surya Kanta Sarkar, the Congress candidate in the recent Lok Sabha election, has taken responsibility for his defeat.

Paul emphasized that there is no reason for concern over the loss and expressed optimism that Congress will win by a larger margin in the next election. He noted that victories and defeats are part of politics.

Paul reiterated that Congress has always worked in the interest of the people and will continue to fight for their rights. He pointed out that the BJP has suffered significant setbacks in areas where they were expected to win, indicating growing public awareness.

Paul thanked those who voted for the Congress candidate in the Silchar Lok Sabha seat and commented that the BJP's failure to win 400 seats shows that the Modi government is not as strong as it appears.

He criticized the BJP government for being divisive and claimed that projects initiated are labeled as Modi's initiatives, suggesting that BJP candidates serve Modi rather than the public.

Paul also mentioned that Trinamool Congress leader Sushmita Dev's actions hurt Congress votes. Dev, who campaigned in areas traditionally supportive of Congress, only secured 20,000 votes from Silchar, while Congress received 388,940 votes.

Both Surya Kanta Sarkar and Abhijit Paul expressed gratitude to the voters and thanked all levels of the Cachar District Congress workers for their efforts.
