Congress protests: Abhijit Pal's effigies burned over alleged BJP ties

In Silchar district, Congress President Abhijit Paul is facing significant backlash in the Dholai constituency. Members of the Congress party have been burning effigies of Paul in protest, reflecting their frustration with his leadership.

The dissent comes after Paul reportedly handed over the Silchar Lok Sabha seat to the BJP, and there are concerns he might do the same with the Dholai Assembly seat.

On Saturday night, Congress supporters burned effigies of Abhijit Paul in the Borjalenga block’s Airangmara and Loharbond areas. They accused Paul of acting as a BJP agent, alleging that he appointed BJP supporters to key positions within the party.

The intense demonstrations underscore the growing discontent among party members regarding Paul’s alignment with the BJP.
