Cricket Champion Subir Dutta Roy Passed away due to Covid-19 complications.
Another big loss for the people of Cachar district. Subir Dutta Roy, 65-year old who is one of the best players in the 1970s-80s has taken his last breath on 28th May, 7:05 pm in Silchar Medical College and Hospital's Covid ward.
He was earlier admitted to Rahman Hospital in Guwahati because of some neurological conditions. He was admitted to SMCH after testing positive for Covid-19 and took off to Guwahati after the results came out to be negative.
Once a cricket star Subir Roy was one of the best players of his time and was in the utmost position after his debut to the Town Club. His biggest break was when he was selected for the Ranji Trophy match against Tripura in 1987. However, he missed the chance to play the match, a regret that haunted him forever.
In the 1990s he retired and started his own coaching. Once he was one of the selectors for the Assam Cricket Team and has coached the senior district team as well.
This loss has Shocked the fraternity of DSA, and the association will keep the flag half-mast tomorrow in order to pay respect to their lifetime member.
