Drunk driver crashes into auto in Silchar, injures auto driver severely

A serious road accident occurred in the Chirakandi area of Silchar around midnight on Saturday. The incident, which happened in front of the Silchar Chirakandi Central Public Works Office, involved a four-wheeler and an auto rickshaw. The auto driver sustained severe injuries and was thrown onto the road due to the collision.

The accident was caused when the driver of a four-wheeler, lost control of the vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol. The vehicle crashed into the stationary auto rickshaw, causing it to overturn and resulting in significant damage. The injured auto driver was immediately attended to by local residents who alerted the Tarapur Out Post.

Responding swiftly to the distress call, the Tarapur In-Charge and traffic police arrived at the scene, providing urgent medical assistance to the injured driver and transporting him to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the intoxicated four-wheeler driver was apprehended by the police along with both vehicles and was taken to the station for further proceedings.
