Early turnout: Manipur re-polling hits 16.68% by 9 am
Re-polling is underway in six polling stations across three assembly constituencies within the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency, necessitated due to incomplete voting during the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha Polls on April 26.
With stringent security measures in place, polling began at 7 a.m. and is slated to end at 4 p.m. Residents of Ukhrul town, located 84 km north of Imphal, reported seeing voters lining up in groups at polling stations, indicating a significant turnout.
By 9 a.m., a voter turnout of 16.68% was recorded in the re-polling at the six designated polling stations in the Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency. These polling stations include schools and other educational institutions across Ukhrul and Chingai assembly constituencies, with one station in Senapati district.
The outcome of Phase II polling in the Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency will determine the fate of four candidates, while the Inner Manipur constituency saw a previous round of polling on April 19 during Phase I, involving six candidates.
