What made Postal employees of Assam go for agitation?
For the first time, the holiday on Bohag Bihu has been cancelled for the postal service employees. RCC Assam region calls for a demonstration of agitation on 12 and 13 April in front of respective postal offices for the declaration of Bohag Bihu as a Local Holiday.
RCC Convenor Garga Talukdar released a circular calling all the CS of NFPE Unions of Assam Circle, office bearers of RCC Assam Circle, all LCC Secretaries along with all the Division and Branch Secretaries of NFPE Unions of Assam Circle to demonstrate their agitation against the authorities who are adamant to change the Local Holiday for Bohag Bihu from 15 April to 14 April.
Talukdar is determined to compel the Secretary of Central Government Employees Welfare Coordination Committee, Ms. N Maisnam, to lay down her ego.
According to the circular, the agitated employees have been trying to utilise the forum of COC, CGEs & Workers but did get any positive result. Since the 8th of April, they submitted several letters of appeal but all in vain.
On 12th and 13th April, i.e. today and tomorrow, the unions of employees together decided to organise a massive demonstration in the respective offices and raise the issue.
On this note, D.K.Borah, C/S, AIGDSU, Assam Circle, informed that All India Postal Employees Union of Assam Circle has called for Lunch hours DEMONSTRATION on 12/4/2021 in front of All-Division offices. He urged All Divisional/Branch Secretaries, CWC and active members of All India Gramin Dak Sevaks Union to participate and make it successful.
Their demand: CGEWCC must declare Bohag Bihu as a Local Holiday.
