Fatal road accident in Katigorah: One person killed as truck collides with cows and pedestrian
A tragic road accident occurred around 10:00 AM this morning on the national highway near Hilara tea plantation and Madua Bridge in Katigorah, resulting in the death of one individual.
According to details from the incident, a tipper truck numbered TR 05 E 1588 was traveling at high speed towards Kalain. At that time, Anjan Das, a resident of Maduarpara in the Mohanpur II block, was walking in the opposite direction with three cows. The truck struck the cows and Anjan Das, with the impact causing Anjan Das to be crushed under the vehicle. The cows were also dragged under the tipper.
Local police and residents quickly responded to the scene, rescuing the cows alive. Unfortunately, Anjan Das succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was recovered and sent for a post-mortem examination.
The accident caused significant agitation among the local populace, who attempted to block the road in protest. Former MLA Amar Chand Jain intervened, successfully calming the crowd and convincing them to disperse peacefully.
The police have launched an investigation into the accident to determine its exact cause and establish responsibility. The tragic death of Anjan Das has left the community in mourning and raised concerns about road safety in the area.
