Grade 3 jobs to National Games medal winners: Assam Govt

The Assam state cabinet, in adherence to the Integrated Sports Policy of Assam, has given its nod for the appointment of medal winners from the 37th National Games. Additionally, cash awards have been sanctioned for 42 winners who are already employed in government service, as announced by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) on Friday.

Under the approved plan, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medalists will be appointed to Grade III positions in various government departments. Simultaneously, the 42 existing government employees among the medalists will receive cash rewards.

The cash incentives are set at Rs 50,000 for Gold, Rs 40,000 for Silver, and Rs 30,000 for Bronze medalists.

This decision aligns with the commitment made by Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma in September 2022, emphasizing the government's swift action to provide jobs to Assam’s medal-winning athletes based on their educational qualifications in the National Games. The move reflects the state's dedication to recognizing and supporting the achievements of its talented sports personalities.
