Guwahati all set to have its first All Women Seller market

A new chapter in women empowerment is set to unfold in Guwahati as the city gears up to inaugurate an all-women seller market near Atal Udayan Park in Hengrabari. This unique marketplace will exclusively feature female vendors, creating a platform for women entrepreneurs.

Mrigen Sarania, the Mayor of Guwahati, shared details about the impending project, stating, "The tender process is currently underway for this market. We are committed to opening this all-women market at the earliest." When queried about the purpose behind this initiative, Sarania emphasized, "Given the available space, we envisioned utilizing it to establish a market exclusively for women sellers."

This development follows the opening of Assam's first all-women market in Namrup district in 2019, drawing inspiration from Manipur's renowned all-women market, 'Ima Keithel.' The forthcoming all-women seller market near Atal Udayan Park is poised to provide a dedicated space for women entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products, fostering economic empowerment and inclusivity.
