Guwahati declares dry day from May 5 to May 7, ahead of 3rd phase of general elections
The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration has taken stringent measures ahead of the third phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, declaring dry days throughout the entire district, including Guwahati. From 5:00 PM on May 5 until 5:00 PM on May 7, the sale and consumption of alcohol will be prohibited, ensuring a sober environment during the crucial electoral period.
This decision, in alignment with government directives, aims to maintain order and integrity during the electoral process, especially in the parliamentary constituencies of Guwahati scheduled for voting on May 7.
Additionally, recognizing the significance of the vote counting process, a dry day has been declared for June 4, the day of vote tallying. This comprehensive approach underscores the administration's commitment to fostering a fair and peaceful election environment.
By implementing these measures, the Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration seeks to uphold the principles of democracy and ensure a smooth electoral process free from any undue influence or disruptions.
