The District Magistrate of Haflong has issued an order to close the Silchar-Haflong road due to its deteriorating condition. This is confirmed by DC Cachar Rohan Kumar Jha.
The closure will begin tonight at 8 PM and continue until June 1.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Cachar District Magistrate Rohan Kumar Jha informed that travelers from Barak Valley to Guwahati can take the route through Meghalaya as an alternative.
Jha also announced that all schools and colleges in the Cachar district will remain closed for the next two days due to the impact of Cyclone Remal.
He urged the public to avoid riverside areas and stay indoors unless absolutely necessary.
Additionally, he advised people to stay away from trees near power lines and requested farmers to avoid going to their fields during this period.
The District Magistrate’s orders come as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety amidst the cyclone’s aftermath.
