Hindu Nationalists Unhappy Over Partial Cow Protection Bill, Demand for Ban on Beef in Assam
Hindu Nationalists Unhappy Over Partial Cow Protection Bill, Demand for Ban on Beef in Assam.
The Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi declared on 22nd May that his government is going to bring the Cow Protection Bill in the next session of the Assam Assembly. The Bill, as mentioned by Mukhi, would ban the transport of cows to other states from Assam. However, a section of the Hindu Nationalists in Assam, especially from Barak Valley were demanding a full ban on slaughtering of cows and beef to make the 'Cow Protection Bill'. In their opinion, only banning the transport of cows won't do any good for the protection of the dignity of the cows.
An email campaign was launched in this regard by Samrat Dutta, which was addressed to the Governor of Assam and stated, "We hereby request you to place some other clauses in the bill, that shall ensure the protection of cows in Assam, in real sense. As you said, Cows are considered and evaluated to the position of mothers in India, we hereby demand before you to ban the slaughter of cows and beef consumption in the state under the Cow Protection Bill."
More than 100 emails have been sent by the Hindu Nationalists, in this regard, belonging to several organisations. People from Delhi, Maharasthra, Punjab who recognise themselves as Hindu Nationalists, also joined the campaign for the greater Hindu cause, informed Dutta.
