Horrific murder unveiled - Four arrested in connection with Lakhipur woman's death
Late in the evening on 19/11/23, authorities received information about the lifeless body of an unidentified female found on the roadside at Tolengram, Pallorbond, under the jurisdiction of Lakhipur police station. Responding promptly, the police initiated an inquiry, and an inquest was conducted by the executive magistrate, following proper procedures. The deceased, identified as Soma Das, 27, wife of Pradyut Das from Vill - Rabindra Sarani, Tarapur Shivbari Road, PS - Silchar, was then transferred to the local PHC and later to the SMCH morgue for necessary formalities.
Upon further investigation, Soma Das's husband, Pradyut Das, was detained and thoroughly interrogated. He eventually confessed to his involvement in the crime, along with three others. Based on his revelations and technical analysis, another prime accused, Arjun Baisnab (23), from Vill. Tarapur, Malinibil, Cachar, Assam, was apprehended. Both accused disclosed the names of their co-accomplices, Dulon Baishnab (49), from Sibbari Tarapur, PS- Silchar, and Ronojit Baishnab (26), from Malini Beel, Tarapur, PS- Silchar, who were also involved in the crime.
Dulon Baishnab and Ronojit Baishnab were arrested after evading police since the commission of the crime. The vehicle used in the crime, a white Alto car with registration no. ML-04-A-3452, was recovered at Gumrah based on information provided by Arjun Baishnab.
The case is registered under Lakhipur PS case no. 314/23 U/S-120(B)/302/34 IPC, following an FIR filed by the deceased's mother. The ongoing investigation aims to gather vital evidence to bring the case to its logical conclusion.
