Huge Cache Of Arms, Ammunition Seized In Wangoo Laipham Area of Manipur
During the operation, law enforcement unearthed a significant cache of weapons near the cemetery in Wangoo Laipham Mangya on the hill range.
In a significant operation, Manipur police conducted extensive search operations in the Wangoo Laipham area, resulting in the seizure of a substantial amount of arms and ammunition. The search, carried out between 3.30 and 7.30 in the evening hours, encompassed various houses in Wangoo Laipham Chingya and suspected locations within the Wangoo Laipham Manya hill range.
During the operation, law enforcement unearthed a significant cache of weapons near the cemetery in Wangoo Laipham Mangya on the hill range. The recovered items included a range of firearms and explosives, such as an AK 47, five SLRs, one modified 303 rifle, one Insas rifle, three .303 rifles, two SBBL, 11 HE grenades, one Chinese hand grenade, three WP gren MK I, 15 grenade launching tubes, a small quantity of suspected pek along with fuses, six detonators, two detonator boxes, six ballistic cartridges, three empty 12-bore cases, one BP vest, two walkie-talkies (Baofeng), one empty AK-47 magazine, one empty Insas rifle magazine, four empty .303 rifle magazines, five empty SLR rifle magazines, and a locally made pipe bomb.
The operation was a joint effort involving the Commando (CDO) unit-Kakching, Village Defence Force (VDF) personnel of Kakching, Manipur Police Telecom Organisation (MPTO) personnel, Office-in-charge (OC) of Wangoo PS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Sugnu PS, teams from D-Coy 136 BSF, and B-Coy 167 BSF. The operation was led by Additional SP (Ops) Kakching under the supervision of SP/KCG Th Vikramjit Singh and overall oversight of DIG/R-II H Jogeshchandra Singh.
The recovered items were handed over to OC WNG-PS for further necessary action. This incident follows a similar seizure earlier this month, where security forces discovered arms and explosives in various districts across Manipur, reinforcing the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the region.
