Idol makers in distress as raw materials price sky rockets
The mushroom of worship starts from the first week of the month of Shravan.
From that time various artists from far and wide came to Silchar to make idols.
Like other times, this time is no exception. This time also various artists have come to create idols.
After overcoming the horrors of the previous floods, artists from far away Kolkata came to Silchar with the dream of making a little profit compared to the last time, but the skyrocketing price has become a huge obstacle to their dreams. Due to the increase in the price of essential materials, the artists have been hit on the head.
Along with the construction of Mansha idols in the month of Shravan, they have received many orders for the construction of idols for other pujas including Sharadiya Durgotsava.
But the price of the raw materials like cane, wood, soil, milk etc. materials are at their sky high.
Price hikes are a cause for concern. In this situation, even if the statue is built, the profit will not be made by various artists.
But still the artists who left their families and came to Silchar to earn some money started making idols. They have drawn the attention of the government by highlighting the problem.
