The medical college and hospital in Silchar are grappling with a deteriorating situation, exacerbated by rampant exploitation of patients, particularly concerning X-rays, sonography, and MRI reports by brokers.

Additionally, the hospital premises are overrun with cattle, while parking areas remain unregulated, fostering lawlessness and lacking security measures.

Consequently, emergency services at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital are severely compromised.

Despite efforts by state and central governments to improve healthcare services, the situation remains dire, with millions of rupees being spent, yet patients and their families continue to suffer due to inadequate facilities.

There are reports of exorbitant charges for patients admitted to the ICU, and incidents of theft involving valuable items belonging to patients and their families are not uncommon.
