Indian Superstar Amitabh Bachchan has been awarded the FIAF Award
Amitabh Bachchan became the first actor to be honored with FIAF Award for his contribution in preserving India's film heritage.
FIAF is a worldwide Organization comprising film archives and museums across the world.
On Friday March 19th, filmmakers Martin Scorsese and Christopher Nolan honoured, Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan with the international Federation of Film Archives award (FIAF).
The event was held virtual and also live-stream on Film Heritage Foundation YouTube channel. Amitabh Bachchan was nominated this year by filmmaker, film archivist and Restorer Shivendra Singh Dungarpur, who is also the founder of Film Heritage Foundation.
Amitabh bachan became the first actor to be honoured with the award for his contribution in preserving India's film heritage.
In the Ceremony Nolan and Martin talked about Amitabh Bachchan.
Martin Scorsese said " Safeguarding cinema is a global cause of champions all over the world and Amitabh Bachchan's Advocacy for preserving india's film heritage, really has been exceptional and I am well aware of the time and effort that Amitabh Bachchan has personally devoted to this cause. The FIAF could not have chosen a more deserving individual to recognise this year".
Christopher Nolan said " I had the Privilege of meeting to this living legend a few year ago. [ Film preservation ] is unbelievably important work and your voice, your reputation behind this cause adds so much and make so much more possible. For all these reason, I just want to express my gratitude, and the gratitude of FIAF and everybody involved with this award, for everything you've done so far, and for everything that you will do in future. " After this statement of Christopher Nolan it's seems like he remember his meeting with Amitabh Bachchan in 2018 in Mumbai.
After receiving the Award Amitabh Bachchan uploaded a picture on his Twitter account carrying the FIAF Award and with the picture he had written a short message on ceremony, he wrote, "Deeply honoured to have been conferred the 2021 FIAF Award. Thank you FIAF, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan for bestowing the award on me in the ceremony today. Modern technology be praised . Connected virtually to the rest of the world simultaneously ".
