DC Cachar while talking to media stated that it was an unprovoked firing from Mizoram's side and Assam Police didn't fire as they were facing Civilians "We were following the law so no shots were fired from our side" she said.

 "SP Kolasib mentioned that he cannot control his citizens. Those citizens are making decisions, creating Chaos by vandalising public as well as Government properties. Also, destroying forest resources despite several notices from forest departments. This is not the proper way to run an administration. But our people are fully cooperative. It was the Mizo people who always started the chaos in the first place." She said.

Some of the injured police personnel while confronting media from the hospital stated that they weren't expecting their brother Mizoram police to start an unjustified firing, also they were not ready for it. They then urged the ministry to solve the issue as soon as possible.
