Jains in Old Delhi dressed up as muslims, rescue 124 goats from Bakrid
In a heartwarming gesture, Vivek Jain, a 30-year-old chartered accountant, has spearheaded a noble initiative to save 124 goats from slaughter during Eid al-Adha (Bakrid).
Located just 500 meters from Jama Masjid, hundreds of goats found refuge in the courtyard of a temple in Chandni Chowk, where Jain raised Rs 15 lakh for their rescue.
Using powerful Jain mantras played through speakers, Jain sought to calm the apprehensive goats, assuring them of a new lease on life.
The Naya Jain Mandir in Dharampur area witnessed a surge of activity akin to the bustling goat markets ahead of Eid, albeit with a different purpose—saving the goats from the butcher's blade.
For the Jains residing in Chandni Chowk, it became a day of "goat darshan," as people flocked to the temple to witness the rescued animals.
Some contributed funds for their fodder, while others affectionately petted the goats, showcasing the compassionate virtues of their religion
