In a recent press conference organized by the "Barak Valley Cha and Ex-Cha Jalha Suraksha Manch" at the Silchar Press Club, officials of the organization shed light on a severe crisis faced by the Jalha community in three districts of Barak Valley. The crisis stems from the implementation of the 'Mission Bhumiputra' portal, which has created significant challenges for the community.

Despite the Jalha community's long-standing status as an Other Backward Class (OBC), students from this community have been grappling with a digitization crisis for approximately six months. Shockingly, OBC certificates obtained through the Bhumiputra portal are consistently rejected when applied for by members of the Jalha society in Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi districts.

Prominent figures from the Barak Valley Tea and Former Tea Jalha Protection Manch, including Editor Rahimuddin Sheikh, Vice President Abdul Hossain, Co-Editor Shamsu Uddin Mia, and Executive Members Ali Hossain, Nurul Islam Ansari, Amir Hossain Sheikh, Shaheen-Ara Begum, and Subhanur Siddiqui, along with other students, expressed their profound frustration with this dire situation.

The individuals involved in the press conference passionately appealed to Chief Minister Himantaviswa Sharma to take immediate action to include the Jalha Samaj of Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi districts in the Mission Bhumiputra portal. The protracted deprivation endured by Jalha society students over the past six months has left them deeply disheartened.

Officials and students alike earnestly implore Chief Minister Himantaviswa Sharma to take swift and affirmative steps to safeguard the rights of the Jalha community. They express bewilderment at the sudden adversity faced by a community that has been recognized as Bhumiputra by the Chief Minister himself just last year.

In summary, the Barak Valley Tea and Ex-Tea Jalha Suraksha Manch, in a plea to Chief Minister Himantaviswa Sharma, seeks urgent measures to rescue the Jalha society from its current state of despair, with the hope of resolving this pressing crisis promptly.
