Karimganj DC invokes Section 144 in Pathakandi amid breach of law and order

In response to the apprehension of a potential breach of peace and law and order situation in the Patharkandi Police Station area, Mr. Mridul Yadav, IAS, District Magistrate of Karimganj, has invoked Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (Cr.P.C.) to enforce immediate preventive measures.

According to reports from the Circle Officer of Patharkandi, there are concerns regarding public tranquility and the maintenance of law and order. To address these concerns, the following restrictions have been imposed with immediate effect until further notice:

1. Assembly Restriction: Assembly of 5 (five) or more persons is prohibited.

2. Agitational Programmes: Organizing any agitational programme such as bandhs, rallies, strikes, dharnas, demonstrations, etc., is strictly prohibited.

3. Possession of Weapons: Carrying of any weapon, explosives, or any other suspicious objects is prohibited.

4. Traffic Obstruction: Obstruction of traffic and illegal parking of unauthorized vehicles is prohibited.

5. Noise Restrictions: Use of loudspeakers or high-decibel sound-producing instruments is prohibited.

6. Rumour Control:Spreading of rumours through social media platforms is strictly prohibited.

The District Magistrate emphasized that this order has been issued ex-parte, given the urgent nature of the situation. Any violation of this order will attract prosecution under relevant provisions of the law, specifically Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Individuals affected by this order may seek exemption or alteration by approaching the undersigned authority. The District Magistrate further urged cooperation from the public to ensure the maintenance of peace and order in the region.
