Karimganj police achieved another major success by foiling a plan to exchange discontinued Rs 2000 notes and seizing Rs 50 lakh in cash from Ratabari.

Seven individuals, including a bank manager, were arrested in the operation.

According to reports, the police successfully apprehended seven individuals in Ratabari with Rs 50 lakh in cash.

The arrested include Hailakandi Canara Bank Manager Jesraj Deka, Loan Officer Chinlal Maun, Hailakandi's Anwar Hossain Laskar, Muhammad Shariful Alam, Barpeta's Rakibul Hasan, and Nalbari's Deep Jyoti Bezbaruah. The group had gathered at Ratabari market to exchange Rs 2 crore worth of Rs 2000 notes.

Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid, seizing a Bolero and a WagonR along with the suspects.

Although the main group escaped with Rs 2 crore, the police managed to capture the team with Rs 50 lakh during the transaction. Police sources indicate that the investigation is ongoing.
